The FAQ is there for a reason. Please read it. And if your question is not answered, then leave a comment asking it. Please do not ask the same question that has already been asked four times and is literally answered verbatim in the entry. We are getting really tired of repeating ourselves, and the copypasta answer is becoming kind of obvious.

Reading comprehension skills are important, folks.

When you answer, direct them to the FAQ. Make it obvious you're copy and pasting from the FAQ. Cuts that shit down in half the time.

da

i had this happen twice from the same prospective player. they asked something that was covered in a specific section for it in the faq. i answered with, 'well, in the faq here...' then c/p'd the relevant part. i got a second message asking about something else further down in that same faq section. i was a little less tactful, but still suggested that they take the time to read the faq fully before sending in questions that were already answered.

What if the way it was written in the faq was confusing?

Then say "I know this is in the FAQ but I don't quite get X part of it"

+1

like, eighty percent of the time that people ask a question that's on the faq, it's because they didn't read the actual faq or just skimmed it. if they at least say 'hey, i read this part and i'm still not really sure how it applies to my specific scenario', then i can't think of any mod that would legitimately be angry about that. sometimes things are worded poorly or it makes sense to the mods because they know the entirety of it. if it's not making sense to people in the dark, then that needs to be addressed and fixed. but at least read the fucking faq.

exactly this!

I know I tend to ramble and make more sense to myself than to others sometimes, so as a mod having someone ask me to clarify a confusing bit of info text is greatly appreciated. Asking very clearly answered questions over and over on the other hand, or blatantly needling for a specific answer that will allow you to get around the rules is not.
