1. 2d animation is visually uninteresting to me. 2. lots of things don't have official translations released. 3. lots of things that are officially translated are super slow to come out, and since avoiding spoilers for things these days is incredibly difficult, i would have to seek out fansubs/downloads rather than wait. i don't like downloading because i know people who got busted for it. 4. i don't like watching things with subs because i find i miss the action. 5. when i'm listening to non-english audio i feel like i miss lots of nuance and suggestion about a character's mood, social status, motivations, etc. 6. the majority of anime that i have seen/heard of are focused on characters in their teens, which isn't of that much interest to me. 7. i find a lot of the character designs silly. (hairstyle, dress, etc.)
i don't have any huge hateboner for anime or any objection to its existence. if people want to watch and enjoy it, i'm very happy for them. i don't want it to go away or disappear from rp, but it's not personally of interest to me, and those are the reasons why.
it's okay for people not to like things so long as they're not a dick about it, and i don't understand why not liking anime is considered some kind of moral transgression here. plenty of people dislike anime without baying for the blood of its fans or its disappearance from dwrp.
I can get that those are reasons you're not interested in watching anime, anon, but I don't watch anime either yet still thread happily with anime characters.
I suppose I'm curious how a dislike of a genre extends to a dislike of rping with characters of that genre? I wouldn't think many of those reasons apply beyond watching the shows, since I don't find anyone expects me to know their canon in order to rp with them, so things about spoilers and waiting on translations and reading subs seem like moot points in the context of rping with anime characters.
