Arguing 'the city doesn't allow non-con' is a cheap cop out excuse and also problematic because there are people who want to and have played out non-con in game. Obviously the city doesn't catch the rapists unless the players allow them to be caught.

It's also contradictory because skimming the logs of the masquerades and carnivals, there are some definitely dub or non-con threads happening in them, so singling out only one person's thread is kind of eyebrow raising. Yeah, it was submitted as AC so it was brought to their attention but if they're going to insist on changing what's already happened, shouldn't they insist it for everyone else?

I also disagree that a openly non-con thread would make no sense. It could possibly happen if a worker didn't properly or fully explain to Silver what was going to happen if he participate, or if Silver was mistaken for someone who'd volunteered. Anyone monitoring them could also assume that this was some sort of hardcore BDSM play with a safeword.

Is it really so hard to allow a little leeway instead of coming down with the big mod stick?

playing non-con between two consenting players =/= the city itself sanctioning non-con.

non-con is non-con based on the fact that at least one of the characters involved is not consenting. it says in the rules clear as day that non-con is allowed to be played out because it's a kink, but it's not something that's going to be condoned by the city. you can't expect someone to rape someone out in public and have the guards just titter and say they're playing a game. most especially in an event that is hosted and monitored by the city itself, they're not going to turn a blind eye to someone clearly being raped or forced into something. the event itself is dub-con at best by pairing potential people together, but there's a difference between "I have to have sex with random person or I'll go to re-ed" and "Get your hands off me you rapey bastard"

sure, play out non-con/dub-con scenes, but the point being made here is that things like that and the spider plot need to be played out within the rules of the game. there are rules of the game, and if people can't be bothered to read them and adhere to them, then maybe they shouldn't be playing in the game in the first place. the city not sanctioning rape has been in place since the game opened. this isn't a new thing.
