I've had this happen to me three times already, and it never gets any less frustrating.
Bonus points if A: the person bringing in the love interest does it specifically for the ship without at least asking the other half of the ship, whose been in the game for months and might have other plans, if they'd WANT to ship the canon ship; and B: the person playing the half already in game is either genuinely too nice to say no or actually drops you like a bad habit at the first chance (in which case you're probably better off, but OUCH).
I completely understand that it's the internet and people can app who they want, where they want, when they want, but a little courtesy in advance wouldn't hurt.
