1) you have a timeline with just over 80 people on it, shit you post for all that timeline to see ain't "private".

2) you have 6 characters in one game, two characters each in two other games and are planning to app another somewhere else. your inbox will be full. constantly. to keep plurking about it and "jokingly" bitch about it over and over will get annoying for some, off-putting for others. instead of plurking about ALL THESE TAGS, GUYS OMG like you're surprised people fucking tagged you how about you just. do your tags? it's like those people that post pictures of their inboxes all the fucking time. it gets to a point where it seems like you're complaining, not joking.

oh, it's off-putting. and it has nothing to do with being bitter that someone has tags. i've seen this kind of thing from other people on my timeline, both from people i'm trying to tag with and those i'm not. when someone is going 'omg so many tags, i can't even', no, i don't want to add to their tag load. that's not enticing to me as a potential cr partner to know that someone feels so overwhelmed by what they already have (because some people can't seem to moderate their tagging) that tagging is a chore or a headache to them.

these are the people that often drop things because 'i'm just so burned out guys'. and they do it all over again. whether it's with one character or ten, it doesn't matter. figure out what you can actually manage and stick to it. a plurk now and then about it is one thing, but constant plurks about how you just can't or you're so stressed or omg u guys makes me feel like i'd be an asshole to add to that. if it's someone i'm waiting on a tag from that i either never get or know it's going to be another week or two before i get another, it doesn't make me want to continue.

no one expects catering or ass kissing. but people don't like to be told in a roundabout way that tagging with this person is stressing them out.

news flash: a lot of people are put off by this kind of shit. like the other anon said it above, it's not attractive from a potential cr pov and makes it come off like they are constantly stressed by the load they already have.

like, it gives the impression that they already have their hands full and aren't looking to branch out to new cr currently. but that's not wrong? that's a correct impression. they are indeed overwhelmed and they are indeed not looking for new cr.

idk, i don't get what is wrong with setting boundaries. you can complain about how it was done if you want but the basic principle of telling people you're not taking new cr now/you're only accepting a certain number of tag-ins is not bad behavior whatsoever.

except the 'omg my tag load is so huge kill me now' plurks are usually paired with 'no one's tagging me/i have nothing to do/i need new threads'. some of the worst people on my timeline for 'wah i have too many tags' are also the ones that are constantly butting into my plurks to ask for new threads/new cr or new ships.

it's usually a sign of flakes and shiny hunters. they want the fun of new things without having to follow through, because follow through is boring for them. that's it. that's what it boils down to. they're usually a step above people that want to talk about all the rping they'll never do because talking and planning it is more fun than doing it.

yeah to be honest my experience is literally the exact opposite of yours. i've never really seen what you're referring to. i see people demanding more tags and then just dropping threads/flaking/moving on to someone shinier. the people i know who have the maturity to say "hey guys i'm only able to take on x number of responses here" are the ones who are finishing threads and having meaningful cr rather than tons of shallow unfinished crap.

i can understand that? but look at where you are. plurk peeve thread. it's pretty likely that people constantly whining about their tag load enough to have someone post here (which wasn't me, btw) are likely the same types of people who either flake off and drop everything, ask for more and drop it, or are generally annoying assholes about having tags in the first place.

some people can handle large tag loads. some people can't. not everyone who has a large tag loads feels the need to make a plurk every day about how hard their life is because of their inbox.

these aren't the same people or the same behaviors.

no one particularly cares when someone says that they have all they can handle and don't want more. not only is this not what people are discussing it is the opposite. what people are complaining about is the person who ever day makes a plurk about how completely overwhelmed they are by the amount of tags they have, their inbox is stressing them out, they just don't know where to begin, they're so sorry but really they'll get to things.

then makes a new post, apps a new character or otherwise does absolutely anything but actually manage their tag load so as not to be overwhelmed. how have you never seen that? it is everywhere.

except that's not what's happening here. they're not acknowledging that they can only take on a certain amount of threads, they're claiming that it's all just a joke.

I don't even know this person and I find that kind of behavior off-putting. You know how jokes that are repeated all the time stop being funny? Does anyone laugh at "Why did the chicken cross the road?" It's the same thing here. I can't tell you if you're joking or not but it stops being funny after a while.

If they don't want to take on more threads than they can handle, or are overburdened, or both, there are way more graceful ways to deal with that. You can stick to private threads for a little while so that you're only doing the important pre-existing stuff, put a note in a top level that you'll only take three (or however many) subthreads on it, working with the other players to tie up aging threads, or put the time you spend "joking" on actually doing tags. Those will go a lot further towards managing your tag load than "joking" about how overburdened you are.

As someone who is actually newly facing having less RP time than before, this is actually a helpful comment, anon.
