am i the only one that doesn't get where the mods are coming from with their ruling on april's oc? ignoring that it's april and any time her name is mentioned anon's start frothing at the mouth, i've checked the rules and FAQ. the FAQ implies that the only thing that would rule a character out for being appable is if the incentive wouldn't be enough to motivate them into behaving. the mods are implying there are further rules on whether a character feels guilt or remorse that could bar them from being a consideration. that may be so, but if it is shouldn't it be defined somewhere?
honestly the contingent of huge assholes mostly come from the same group, if not completely. you can easily avoid them and, if they tag you, ignore them completely. i wouldn't let it ruin the game for you, especially since all this drama is actually pretty unusual? it's the first time i've seen things blow up like this
please copy and paste from the rules/faq where it clarifies this. even where it comes close to it, maybe i did miss a line or interpret something wrong?
the appeal says that their chars who do not show remorse can still grasp what they do to someone else. she tried to waver on consent saying the char wouldn't violate but doesn't really do emotions to know what's wrong.
it's the rp equivalent of "we didn't have a law against driving with your dog tied to the roof of your car because we didn't think mitt romney would ever drive for twelve hours with his dog tied to the roof of a car." eudio doesn't specifically have rules against apping disgusting apathy-fueled tentacle monsters with no understanding of basic human emotion because the idea of doing so is just THAT STUPID. the mods aren't a robot program, they're humans, they used critical thinking and declined the app like they rightly should have.
The mods are saying that if he can't feel guilt and remorse and considers negative emotions to be positive things, then he cannot fully understand the concept of informed consent, whether in himself or other people. It's defined in the app that you need to demonstrate your character has a clear and solid understanding of informed consent.
being honest here- yes actually. that was more clarifying. reading some of the tdm threads in this context also makes me see why a larger majority wouldn't be comfortable with this kind of character around.
i'm not ayrt but i was confused that the mods had declined a character who wasn't remorseful about hurting someone. there are other characters in game who don't apologise for past villainy, but are still able to obey the rules around consent.
this is more that this character isn't capable of remorse. he doesn't recognise when he's causing a negative response in someone, so he could potentially break consent without realising he had. that's the issue, not just that he's done bad things in the past.
if she made this oc specifically for eudio why the hell would she choose to do this??? then try and act like it's some flagrant error and misconception on the mods part for rejecting garbage?
Tbh as someone who only writes m/f and f/f, I do see some "flaming gay stereotypes" but in my experience those characters come mostly from animanga, and mostly from animanga that's either explicitly yaoi or that is heavy on m/m fanservice. And sometimes that characterization is canon, or close to it.
That's where you tend to see a lot of pillowqueen, sub-exclusive, weirdly feminized male characters played for m/m ime. It's still not necessarily the limp-wristed stereotype you see in the West but it is annoying. Of course not every anime player who prefers m/m is like this, not by a long shot, but I see more people like that in anime fandoms than I do playing Dean Winchester or Tony Stark in m/m ships.
Re: PREFS FOR SHIPPING/SMUT THAT WILL MAKE YOU "NOPE" OUT OF A THREAD WHEN YOU SEE THEM
i think it's half kaori's tendency to woobify villains and half marketing tbqh. it's entirely possible someone didn't believe that a necrophiliac main character would be able to sustain a long-running series as a likable protagonist
