it really fucking rustles my jimmies when a player run plot designed for a group of specific people is hijacked and the original group is completely forgotten

There was a point to this plot, jackasses, it didn't need you butting in. yeah im salty about it.

My biggest pet peeve for tags from any of my games is just, this.

"Words, I am saying words. Words words word!" Becky said. "More words are being said. I am saying words but not conveying my actions to you or doing anything beyond speaking."

Give me something to work off of for gods sake.

My pet peeve is being expected to describe actions to the point of repetitiveness when the characters are sitting there, having an interesting conversation. Sometimes it seems like people want characters to be fidget machines.

i generally don't describe an action unless they're doing something or changing positions and it's relevant. the conversation should be more relevant than if the char is scratching their butt or fidgeting, unless the actual fidgeting is an indication of distraction or their butt is itchy because someone put itching powder in their pants and it's starting to work.

if they move across the room, say that. if they sit down beside the char, say that. if afterwards, they just sit there chatting, there's no reason to add anything onto it. you're not being told anything because nothing relevant is happening. or would you like me to detail that at that current moment in time, while chatting about the banalities of being pretty, george's stomach was currently breaking down the blueberry scone he'd had not an hour ago.

Me too. I mean, it's one thing if I know the character. Then I can usual figure it out, but if I don't...?

For example:
me: [gertrude holds up a clumsily folded origami flower, beaming] I made this for you!
other person: How cute.

me: ???? the person picked a sort of neutral smile icon. Is the person being sarcastic? Mocking? do they genuinely think it's cute but are subdued? do they just not give a shit? Just... put slightly more effort into this tag good fucking god.

this

for me a character's body language is some of the most interesting things about them. i can usually have something happen more than just 'said', even if it's something internal-meta level which, while may not give something that the other character can ICly respond to, can result in a snicker or two on an OOC level (i hope) and that's p much why i rp in the first place

(Anonymous) 2017-03-16 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I have the exact same problem. From what I've read, it's similar enough that I kind of wonder if it's the same person. Which would probably be better than acknowledging that this is an issue with more than one rper.

It's not that I expect small talk about the weather to have a solid paragraph describing their body language and emotion. It's that my character will do things that would generally elicit...some kind of emotional response, but all I get are twelve words of dialogue that shows nothing on how the other character feels, and generally doesn't actually contribute to the thread at all.

I can't believe I just read the biggest pile of introspective, navel-gazing, purple prose drivel without a single hook or word of dialogue to work off of. How is that even possible in an entry that long?

plot twist: you're tagging the op of the thread above yours.

my character: [casually pulls a sword from his throat]
other character: [casually pulls TEN swords from his throat!!!]

i mean i wasn't even trying to make it a shounen power contest, but if that's what you want then i guess

Re: GAME PET PEEVES

(Anonymous) 2017-03-15 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
i took this as casually pulling ten swords directly out of his throat via his mouth like a sword-eater or something and all i could think was 'ok but consider how many dicks he could shove down that throat'

Stop enabling the character squatters and flakes please. The one tag you get a month is NOT worth it.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-18 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
every time I think "hey, maybe that squatter finally dropped that character I want to play," or "maybe this will be the month that I am finally free of this deadweight inactive castmate," I look at their plurk and see this shit

Squatter: oh... i don't have enough activity for ac, again... and i already have a strike... guess i should drop...
Enabler: Don't worry, friend! :) Let's boomerang something nice and quick today, the last day of the month, so you can clear that strike and stay in the game for two more months without playing!

please stop, you are not helping

a cast mate has been in and out of the game so much, i don't want to tag them anymore because it's literally tiring to do. i'm probably just going to avoid/ignore them, even though it feels weird because our CR is close.

going through this too and it fucking sucks. i have started wondering if i offended the people who bail them out with last minute ac month after month.

Re: GAME PET PEEVES

Main canon CR in the game is super uninterested in our game, but is obsessed with the other game they are in. This wouldn't bother me in of itself, except they openly bitch about our mutual game and how there is nothing to do, even though I have constantly approached them with plot ideas, spearheaded anything we've done together, and the mods even went as far to come up with a game wide plot specifically for their character, which they didn't bother to participate in.

I've tried critting them about all of this in the past, but they just get really upset and say they will do better, and then stop talking to me for a while and don't change their behavior at all. I've also told them I don't mind if they drop if they are really that disinterested, but they won't. No way to solve this except sucking it up and dealing with it (which I do) but I just needed to vent.

people who don't put up ooc posts when running plots. this happens in both of my games and it really annoys me. if it's romance drama or a more sol plot then you don't have to do it, but I've seen setting changes and murder plots happen without people putting up an ooc post just to inform people who don't have the plot runner friended that 'hey, this is a thing.'

(Anonymous) 2017-03-23 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
there's only so many times I can watch your character get into the same arguments/hurt cycles with the same person before I wonder when either of you will actually develop them past being clueless infants about each other

it was fun the first few times but now it just needs to stop

(Anonymous) 2017-03-23 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
When people don't write the scene along and expect you to write out everything that's happening and only respond minimally. Bitch I just wrote a huge tag describing a room and a dragon in it, make your character do something instead of waiting for me to spoon feed you everything.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-24 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
i feel this, anon. after i finish a current thread i'm no longer pursuing CR with this one person because i keep writing two paragraphs and getting back single lines, often with literally nothing in them for me to respond to.

apping in with more than one character then dropping because the game "isn't fast enough" but making only one attempt at integrating their characters.
