(Anonymous) 2017-04-20 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
anon who replied to him here; did i waste my energy writing him a serious reply...

(Anonymous) 2017-04-20 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
go for it, but it IS super unfortunate some psudo-intellectual contrarian critic on youtube gave them more "ammunition" to prove the game is unfair and "balanced badly"

(Anonymous) 2017-04-20 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
those same critics said they love the game despite the faults they found with it. this is definitely a troll.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAA I AM NOT GOOD AT THIS GAME

THEREFORE IT IS UNFAIR

ffs buddy. Dark Souls isn't unfair and neither is BotW. Difficulty /= unfair gameplay

especially when the game hands you dozens and dozens of buffs and different ways to solve problems and kill things.

neither are unfair and botw isn't anywhere near as challenging. its like anything that isn't a cakewalk now is unfair or too hard. my bro only plays league of legends, minecraft, and zelda and arguably the first are "easy" and even casual. he has no issue with botw.

it's a troll, my dudes. either that, or we've seriously got someone whose response to "i don't believe you've actually played the game" is "STOP GASLIGHTING ME!"

Does anybody have any advice for playing a character who is not that wordy, or kind of secretive/not willing to give out more information about themselves than strictly necessary?

I'm having a hard time playing this character on network posts and coming up with replies, and I don't really want to let a thread peter out after like 3 replies when his point has been made. Tips?

(Anonymous) 2017-04-20 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Some general tips, since idk your character.

• It's easier to extend the length if the character have a goal, like gathering information or checking on CR, or seeking someone with a specific info/skill. This can also leads to making/developing CR, which means easier network threading time in the future.

• Fudge it a little. Maybe this strange jamjar thing make him more likely to talk for his goals or something. No one will really blame you if you make him a little more talkative even by a few more replies.

• Depends on the other character, you can try replying to characters that's chatty/snarky/can provoke yours into keep on talking. It's really case by case.

The above tips are pretty good! I'll add:

• If it's something with video replies, use body language to move the thread forward or hint at implications in his words/reactions.

• Text replies? Some close-mouthed characters can be a bit more wordy in text. Not a lot more, but you can be a bit flexible here to keep the thread going if you want.

• If it's really hard to keep a network thread going, work with the other mun to see if you can transition to commentlog/action once network peters out. Not always going to work, but a good resort if you have a goal in mind or want to deepen CR in some way but are being blocked by limited network use.

also adding

- ooc communication. i used to reach out to people and say, hey my character is going to go really quiet or he isn't going to answer that text but i still want to rp with you, here are my suggestions. sometimes it meant their character got more pushy, i've had fun threads where closer cr bothered my ic inbox or started a log banging on my character's door. sometimes it meant we let that thread go but i started something new immediately and their character could ask why mind never responded or just find a new topic. sometimes it just meant we had something else happen in the thread to interrupt the convo. it's much easier to brainstorm workarounds with your partner and then the personality trait becomes icly noticable rather than possible ooc passive aggression.

+1

a good rule of thumb for uncommunicative characters is that you have to pick up the slack. keep in touch with other players and make body language clear*. add explanations into your prose if you want to. put in the effort your character won't.

*you don't have to explain why the character is suddenly doing X or Y if you don't want to be overly transparent, but if they're scratching their chin or starting to slouch, make sure your thread partner knows. if they're unnaturally still, that's relevant, too. they don't have to fidget a new way in every tag, you just need to get across a sense of their presence.

Deflect deflect deflect.

If your character isn't prone to giving out information about themselves, find things about the other character they'd ask about. Have them answer questions with questions ("What do you think about this?" // "...What do you think about it?") where appropriate/IC. If it's a jamjar setting motivation can easily be "x wants to know more about the people brought here/why they've ended up here" or similar.

But also: don't drag threads out simply because you worry about leaving them short. Like anon above said, communicate with the player if you're worried about seeming uninterested, but the last thing you want to do is drag a thread out unnecessarily in order to seem ~approachable. It'll just make it tedious for everyone involved.

Tumblr asexuals vs reddit incels, who wins?

idk what do the incels do

(Anonymous) 2017-04-20 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)

they kill each other off and the rest of humanity rejoices.

or maybe that's just a dream.

idk what the second one even is

(Anonymous) 2017-04-20 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"involuntary celibacy"

it's basically the excuse men that can't get laid use for not getting laid. they're not repellent and completely unattractive to women, they're "involuntarily celibate" and it's all those bitches' fault.
