if you can't afford to responsibly provide for a cat or dog just get a rat or something, they don't live long anyway and it's still the pet companionship without the probable expensive bills
your argument boils down to "but i waaaant it!!!" and then you go hinging this animal's entire life on whether you can drum up enough sympathy on the internet if something catastrophic happens. fuck you. absolutely fuck you. there's plenty of times i've denied myself a pet because i couldn't afford one. same with a lot of things in life.
except catastrophic things don't happen to every pet owner. for every five whining for money, there's five hundred that are managing without incident. most poor people manage just fine with pets, cats or dogs, and they feed and nurture them fine. they are not 'expensive'. they are only expensive if bad things happen, and you can say the same for anything you have, yourself included.
most people don't want to life the 'what if' lifestyle. it's easier and often better to have a pet and pray nothing happens (and it usually doesn't), than go without because 'well, the sky might fall'. 'but i want it' is a perfectly valid argument. and ftr, poor shitty asshole people are the ones more likely to feed their pets properly instead of insisting on veganizing their carnivorous animals.
I'm guessing one of the things you still haven't been able to afford is friends if this is how you talk to people.
I don't think your bootstraps are up to your nipples yet either, so pull harder and give up the luxury of internet access until you can afford basic sympathy again.
i care about animal welfare. fuck you for putting yourself over something that depends on you for its life. get a pet that requires less commitment you handflapping moron.
someone in my cast linked me to an anon wg comment vagueposting about annoying behavior from their own castmate, and demanded to know if i'd written it about them. the situation the anon described did not fit our situation or game at all. it was the equivalent of "look at this anon complaining about their castmate refusing to play anything but sol fluff in a survival horror game. was this you? we play in a space exploration game and i just ran that torture plot last month! why are you saying these things about me?"
it was so bizarre and i still have no idea why she thought it was me talking about her.
i am literally talking about people who beg on plurk for money for vet bills for their pets. if this does not apply to you, neither do any of my comments. i have no idea what else you're talking about here but you need to learn to read the comments you're replying to.
yes, because a fish in a bowl provides the exact same companionship and affection and presence as a dog or a cat. here's your gold star for trying, only not really.
how serious was the engagement treated? because i can see two kids in puppy love deciding that they were TOTALLY GOING TO GET MARRIED WHEN THEY GREW UP YOU GUYS, but if the players were treating it like a serious and adult relationship that's weird.
no, what you're saying is that if you can't afford a pet, don't get one ~just in case something happens. most of those people didn't think anything was going to happen. they lost the lottery on that. i think you should just get off plurk if the sight of a gofundme makes you lose your shit to this degree. don't donate. mute it. and move. the. fuck. on.
you're still not reading what i'm typing apparently so i'm going to c/p what i said earlier and leave now:
would you buy a car if you didn't have reliable funds to pay it off? why would you buy a cat or a dog or other expensive pet without considering emergency vet bills, then? get a fucking betta fish if you're not prepared to potentially spend thousands at the vet.
so have you, shitting your diaper over how ~the poor have a right to own a dog or a cat, stop telling us otherwise you mean capitalist!!!! pull up your bootstraps more!!!~
i'm considered poor by american standards lmao, go away
wanting a more expensive pet to satisfy whatever need for companionship and affection doesn't mean you should just get it. imagine if someone wanted to get an expensive tv that was way out of their budget and someone recommended them a small, cheap one they could afford instead. if they went "but that won't provide the same experience as the big fancy one i want!!" they'd still be being financially irresponsible.
cats and dogs are expensive. they're a luxury. they don't exist just to satisfy your desire for companionship, they're living things that rely on your for their health and happiness. if you can't afford them even with payment plans or whatever then you can't afford them, same as any other luxury. if you want a pet, then get one that's actually wihin your budget, and if that one isn't "good enough" for you then too bad, deal with it and work on building up your savings.
most of those people didn't think anything was going to happen. they lost the lottery on that.
that is literally the very definition of being irresponsible, you dumbass. that's the entire reason why things like insurance exist - because shit can happen when you don't think it will.
