It was actually more like "wait, you want me to straight up not write characters with wrong opinions in my games? ever? I thought this could be resolved, but what you want isn't logical or desirable."

I never saw him asking for gratitude, and believe me, I went hunting for drama.

that's not what happened? unless he's said something more recently that i missed, that's not at all what happened.

It absolutely is what happened. Go check his twitter replies. Show me him asking for gratitude. It's not there.

As for what I'm talking about, here: https://twitter.com/LaurakBuzz/status/1285918371113062402 He was pressured into deleting which is a shame, he said nothing wrong.

did you just. completely ignore that swery accused this person of pushing LGBT propaganda on him? something he literally would have never said had some reactionary gamer shithead not fed him that exact line?

it's extremely disingenuous to ignore the context that laura k dale (whom has definitely been wrong on the occasion, don't get it twisted) is a pet target of far-right gamergate types? the types that are front and center in this stupid discourse? you don't think swery's DMs were flooded with shitheaded Capital G Gamers trying to get him to swing against her the moment they realized she was posting about this?

He's posted repeatedly throughout this (and months before) that anyone he doesn't know who tries to dm him gets an automatic block, they're for friends only. So yeah, that kind of goes against that, especially when she approached him.

they're in the comments, too, though. and he's clearly not blocking them, or they'd be cowing about that.. don't be pedantic.

He is, look harder. You aren't even trying.

People repeatedly demanding "You can't have bad people in your games, that makes YOU bad" is absolutely my definition of trying to push propaganda. That it involves LGBT doesn't magically make it not propaganda?

Why are YOU ignoring what they explicitly stated? It's even in the last screencap.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2020-08-04 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
bruh, the last screencap had a point.

fictional characters have no agency. you can't hide behind it being a "character's choice", particularly when the character was previously presented as an ally. it's bad faith.

what's more, that's not "propaganda", get off the cross already.

Why are you in a writing hobby if you genuinely believe all bad actions done by characters mean the writer's bad?

You're probably right though - isn't propaganda supposed to be effective? Wholeheartedly believing characters = the writer makes you sound broken and out of your mind.

Re: da

dude, hiding behind a fictional character's agency to justify bad writing doesn't mean the writer is, themselves, a terrible person.

it was a bad idea to have transphobia in the game, and if it HAD to be in the game, this was a terrible way to present it. swery is not, himself, a transphobe and no one who isn't a histrionic idiot is claiming he is. but there sure are a ton of people like you trying to say criticizing his work is tantamount to accusing him of being one, so there's that, i guess.

are you the same anon that's arguing it's bad for us to not want homophobes in dwrp?

No. Not everyone who disagrees with you is the same person.
