it's not transphobic to not want to play out a trans au. what, are you going to tell us it'd be racist to not want to play with a racebent version of a character? does not wanting to play with r63s make you a misogynist/misandrist now?

it is if the reason you don't want to play with them is because the character is trans

if making the character trans somehow affects the actual characterisation of that character and that's why you don't want to engage (read as: if the player is actually being ooc, because hcing a character as trans outside of games is not inherently ooc itself) then sure, that's fair

i've played both canon and non canon trans characters and you wouldn't know that about them unless you read it in their journal because i rarely end up playing smut. an actual good trans hc shouldn't be relevant to threads whatsoever unless it's explicitly a thread about gender and/or sex

honest question then, what about that doesn't make it a sex or fetish specific trans-hc then, which we also agree universally suck

as a trans person, nah it ain't. it's not transphobic for someone to not want to play with someone who sticks headcanons on characters that have zero basis in actual canon. as much as you might wish a character were trans, if they aren't trans in canon then it's a headcanon and people have the right to not want to engage with that. i wouldn't engage with it and i wouldn't play something like that either unless the other person i was tagging had explicitly said they were fine with it.

this is what gets me at the end of the day, honestly

lyn and people like lyn screech about transphobia, but when other trans players say that they're also uncomfortable with trans hcs, it's radio silence. it's like they live in this bubble where they're the only trans players that exist and that their rule is law and they speak for everyone.

i know they're reading this too, and will just screech even louder and dig their heels in even more. they're just a sad, angry, pitiful person.

second trans anon +1000ing this and the ayrt. the loudest people often think they're the majority when they're really just a vocal minority.

personally, i find trans hc almost always grossly fetishised or just too over the top (ie making it the entire personality of the character) and don't play them or play against them myself. i'd honestly just rather do a silly genderbend wish fulfillment kind of au instead of add baggage to a character i already have to deal with irl.

my pretendy fun time is not about me coping with my transness and the people that do this often have 0 ic/ooc line because they're essentially playing themselves. it's weird to me.

above anon and exactly, i have absolutely no problem tagging with canon trans characters or someone's trans oc where it's an actual canon part of the character. i'm just not up for someone shoving that on a character where it doesn't exist in canon because my experience has always been that the person who is doing it is blurring ooc/ic lines in a very uncomfortable way and projecting way too hard on that character and i don't want to deal with that with any sort of headcanon, much less one that affects me personally.
