Yeah I've only played a couple myself because I trusted some very specific players for that exact reason. I'm not saying that anyone should inherently be okay with it, it's good to have boundaries and know what you dont want. But saying "well Rune ships the Firsts though" and then knowing how loud they were about not liking to poly ship just reminded me of that. That's the only reason why I brought it up. Unless it was a comment meant to generalize shipping and not as an OT3?

Being all in on a ship and wanting to play some completely different polyship aren't the same. I don't think there was a 16 year old Genesis and Angeal in the game for that player to ship with, and shipping their 16 year old with the 30 year old versions would be even more uncomfortable for a lot of people. Then there'd be pedo wank instead of this nothingburger.

I'm not saying that's what happened either, and as far as I know it definitely didn't become anything like that. The cast didnt try to push anything to my knowledge.

If that was their concern, perfectly reasonable, but I dont think it ever got close to that point, as you said.

since this shit needs clarity, weighing in as someone who was getting all of this secondhand while it was happening live and listened for months from rune gushing like a fanboy about this game before it suddenly ended over winter when he wound up in the hospital. he's still as of this week trying to get people to app this game in spite of how it ended.
nobody ship pushed and he didn't give a flying fuck who else shipped with anyone else and tells people to play what they like, he just wouldn't get in on it when playing a kid. since almost all there is in this game is adult characters gee can't imagine why he wasn't interested in polyshipping and made it clear he would not be into polyshipping with a kid.

The thing is, Rune brought it up multiple times unprompted in chat, but maybe he was just ensuring to make his boundaries clear. It was still kind of odd but it's not like people are experts at being normal in communication in this hobby. I'm just as faulty at that.

I'll also acknowledge that I know nothing about Rune promoting the game. I saw the crash out, saw someone asking for deets here, so I shared what I knew. I want to be clear that I didn't lay any initial accusations in this whole thread, even if I did agree with it, but if I'm wrong then that's on me.

But hey, we agree that nobody pushed in the cast, so that's pretty excellent.

with how often sex, shipping and who's doing who in what shape kept coming up in chat i can see why someone would want to keep reinforcing the boundary. personally i don't see the appeal of playing kid characters in games obviously tuned to a more adult population.

Might just be some clumsy communication in all sides, which wouldn't surprise me. I can't really fault that. It may have felt out of left field, but in context I can see why it was brought up. I wish there had been more clarity to it, but that's hindsight for you.

ngl finding out a player who "crashed out" and "flounced off the game" not only didn't namedrop the game on wankgate but is still recruiting for you kind of makes me wonder about the person who tried to point fingers. getting the feeling they and everyone else who left might be justified.
