okay, sure, that's fair. you can feel annoyed and that's fine too. but when someone in the lgbtq community is expressing anger because of the general oppression of the MAJORITY, the appropriate response is never going to be "hey, not all straight people are like that." you're making it about yourself when you say that. if you're not like that, then that's awesome, good for you, we're not talking about you.

the situation where this particular thing happened (if it's what i'm thinking it is) was not a general "wow we hate straights straights suck." that was never a part of it, but the response was still "not all straight people are like that" from one particular person.

not all straight people are homophobes. that's great. that doesn't mean that heterosexuals aren't still the powerful group in our heterosexist society. and it's good you recognize there's no comparison, but what's important to note is that an appropriate response to an lgbtq person expressing their oppression from heterosexuals is never to be "we're not all like that."

that's all there is to it.
