Calm your wall of rage, sugartits, I'm not a huge Elementary stan. I find both shows decent fun, but acting like it hasn't gotten several elements better than Sherlock is a losing argument. Neither treatment of Irene Adler was great, but I personally would prefer "the character is dead we're not using her at all" to "LESBIAN DOMINATRIX WHO TAKES MALE CLIENTS AND IS IN TRUE LOVE WITH SHERLOCK." And I appreciate that Elementary didn't do an entire racist episode, that it doesn't pull ~ooh people think we're gay crap, and that it actually had a great portrayal of a trans* character. So, yes, it is in fact more progressive.
I'm shocked that they did that and actually cast a trans woman to play the role. Like, how many movies and TV shows have trans characters that are actually played by trans people? This might not be the only instance, but it's the only one I've ever heard about.
Ignoring the topic of this thread but the reason some Sherlock fans like the show so much is because it's probably the ONLY one that's been adapted well with regards to Conan Doyle's original text. Personally, that's why I like it. I read the original books and I love all the little in-jokes and hints the writers of Sherlock introduce into the series, specifically for people who have read the original books.
Elementary isn't a Sherlock series imo. It's a bunch of people trying for it, sure, but nothing about that show reminds me of Conan Doyle's original works or why I liked them. And in terms of 'progressive shows' there are far better out there. The writers of Elementary didn't cast LL as Watson to be 'progressive'. They cast her because they know sexual tension SELLS and by making Watson a woman, they can appeal to a larger heteronormative audience.

If it's in a game? Yes, that's shitty behavior. On a meme it depends, I personally don't have much time for them and will be put out if I've taken the time to write up a decent tag only for it to be never replied to.
No actually, lack of experience is, in fact an indicator that a person has no skill in that specific action or practice. This is not a detractor, it's a descriptor. It a statement of fact that cannot be danced around with something as presumptuous as "OH WELL I'VE NEVER HAD SEX BUT I CAN TOTALLY WRITE IT."
No. You can't. Because there are little nuances, visual, audible, touching cues you do not know how to look for or even if you SHOULD look for them. Instead of attempting to use that tired-ass excuse of "oh killing isn't something we do but we write that" (btw, killing ain't all that easy either), take it as cooking. If you've never set foot in a kitchen your entire life? Yes, I DO expect you to fuck up rice. Yes, I DO expect you to fuck up pancakes. Yes, I DO expect you not to even be able to make tea. Because that's normal for a person that has zero experience in cooking. And diving nose-first in the nearest cookbook from Wolfgang Puck, Emiril Lagassi, the Iron Chefs, or whoever the hell ELSE you might favor will not suddenly make you competent overnight.
Practice is makes you competent in a skill. Practice cracking eggs, measuring water for rice, mixing batter and understanding when to stop and let the lumps stay, how to marinate, etc etc. Practice in sex leads to, at least for one person, some skill in sex (mileage may vary because some people just don't learn in this world). Constant research in sex means you have a plethora of references you can call to the fore of your mind, but it does not equal practical experience.
Will it help you write a sex scene? Maybe. Will it help you bullshit your way through writing sex? Probably. Should you or anyone else be praised for voluntary or otherwise sexual ignorance? Hell no.
And, really, should this really be an issue taken so damned seriously when the vast majority of people in dwrp land just want to have fun writing about dicks and sweat and satisfied pussies and queefing and toys and before-work/class/teaching quickies and harlequinn and hentai sex?
I surely hope not.

have you read any of arthur conan doye's original work? cumbersnatch's sherlock is so far from the original stuff they might as well not have bothered. at least the elementary guy is playing sherlock holmes.
not butt hurt. More curious really. I'm assuming you're talking memes because in a game it would be different. But yes, in memes I generally put some effort into my opening tags to strangers and try to suit the situation I invent to something their character could get involved with. People seem to respond well to it when I tag with popular characters and I often get tags from strangers when I post. Some of my characters aren't as well known though and those often don't get responses. I always wonder if it's me or the other rper. I don't feel insulted, just mildly curious if there was something I could have done differently to make it work. Sometimes there's a mild, brief disappointment because I wouldn't have tagged if I thought it didn't have potential and I'll avoid tagging them again simply because I assume they aren't interested. But there are always other rpers who will answer tags, usually for the same characters. It's just a process of finding people my writing jives with. They're the ones that really matter.
If it's in a game, yes.
You're in a game to play with other fandoms, you signed up for this so play it out.
Nothing pisses me off more than people who app into a game and then proceed to only play with their canonmates.
If it's in a meme, I couldn't care less.

To be fair.
Sometimes it is a bit off-putting if the reason someone barely gets any tags is because people aren't tagging out. While the 100+ players get them due to castmates sticking together.

* Just to clarify, I'm not talking games. I don't have the time to commit to an ongoing game so I don't even try app'ing to them. More generalised RP like DRs or memes I was referring to.
I think this is very much a YMMV thing. Personally I like it because it lends an easy visual distinction - sure, everything we write is in text but that's not so for the characters.
Though that said, it does bug me when people use the code that results in the text going tiny. I'd rather no coding at all than coding that makes stuff that much harder to read.

did you say sherlock bbc did the best adaption of acd with a straight face

Let's talk about you and how wonderful you are. You're beautiful and perfect and don't deserve to feel the rage or anger or frustration that brought you to this place. You're a human being and you have feelings that should be respected and I want you to know that I care about you.
waaaah people are having fun with their friends on the ooc comm
it's almost like it's for ooc communication
those dastardly people should only post things I personally find entertaining!

You captured the point of what makes this unfunny: people having fun just with their friends. You can use your, or their plurks or journals for that. This isn't about their using the OOC community for, gasp, OOC communication, it's about their making a big deal over an in-joke in a very nudge-nudge kind of way. And that and associated circlejerking are not what the OOC community for her. It doesn't help that the one who came up with this is a a mod tbh.
don't forget bubbline, it's the ONLY thing that matters in the whole show.
everything is about the love story of princess bubblegum and marceline the vampire queen, and if you disagree even a little bit you're an evil homophobe.
