that, and it's about female characters that aren't just their stereotypes. You've still got the sporty one/fashionable one/smart one/quirky one/girl-next-door(?) thing going on, but at least they did stuff like having Rarity be interested in her own business, and Twilight not being good at everything, that sort of thing. Plus they're pretty good about not over-simplifying their lessons, too.
at least, that's the impression I got when I watched part of the first season. don't know if it's changed since then.
