i don't even feel that kind of sympathy for him, but other than that, +1. like he knows enough about rape to realize that he did violate somebody, but he can't fully handle that fact mentally and emotionally. so, he's going to grasp at any excuse he can not to feel like total dogshit. until he comes to terms with his actions fully, any apology he makes will ring hollow.
