Personally I like when I can get my journal to not have a scrollbar on the front page. It looks very clean to me. It also helps when I have a character in multiple games, since I can sort links in the navigation post by game and everyone doesn't have to scroll through the other game information to find relevant things. Also I don't need to bother with stickying a bunch of posts, since I tend to use my journals for posting temporary relevant things to plots going on/stupid character surveys only I would care about/etc.
use tags, that's what tags are for. what really annoys me is when someone has their character in multiple games and has separate posts for each of them, but doesn't tag any of them for each game. if you did, then you could just have a single sticky that links each game's relevant tag.
not wanting the scrollbar is kind of stupid, though. that's cleanliness overriding function, to me. personally, i never really cared much about them aside from wondering "why would someone even do that" until a castmate got one. they really are kind of terrible design.
