I've seen a clique within the cast I play, but I don't know about other cliques. I completely agree with that it's extremely hard to get a footing in the game. I feel sorry for those newbies just joining with the current plot going on.
Good to see there are still petty shitstains whining and feeding the whining in this game. I'd be worried if you all actually went tolerant and reasoning.
Off the top of my head I know the people who are really good at spreading the love are Alphonse, Chloe, Lightning and Robert Leckie. What other characters are really social to the newbies?
It really can depend on who you're apping in. I apped in as one character and despite my best efforts got zero traction or CR; I apped in another more social/popular character and I have CR up to my armpits. But when I had just that first character I definitely felt unwelcome -- and it's not like I just put up an intro post and expected people to work for me. I commented on people's plot with me's, put up some of my own, got involved in ongoing plots, tagged into threads, but players would drop and my threads would get drop and I can just really easily see how frustrating of a game this can be for some people to get traction in.
If you get yourself a plurk or start adding everyone on the plurk you have, people will be more apt to play with you. I had absolutely no one playing with my new characters and I've been in the game for years, but when I got more active with my plurk again, people started interacting with them all of a sudden.
If you don't want to use plurk though, I'd say just comment to people's entries if you can. I've never had any problems getting CR when I put in the effort. It's just really hard to comment to the same post by newbies every single month over and over because it's basically the same intro and that gets tiring.
I don't know if it's cliquey exactly but it's hard to get footing if you're not persistent.
Aren't there, though? Heaven forbid someone have reserves or be unhappy with how their time in the game has turned out. Nope, they've been doing it wrong and everything is roses and sunshine and glowing penises smelling of lilies. Utterly aggravating.
