This is why one of my characters, who has the luxury of being in a city game, has invested himself in seeing an offscreen therapist.
His canon issues run pretty deeply too, but he really isn't the type to dump that on his castmates, so I can handwave his coping and development without needing to directly confront it in play too much outside of bracketed introspection, unless someone else picks up upon a change in his thinking or behavior and chooses to address it with him.
