But that 2 months isn't really necessary. Someone else could throw in a reserve or put in an app post rejection during the app cycle if the want the same character so bad.

And they asked it for an OC too.

Between that and telling someone the should had just used a Wiki article instead of writing a history? Yea. I'm a little unsure at the mod team. I'll still app, but the only Wiki entry out there for my character? While it has a good history, it has a terrible personality section that appears written by someone whose puppy was kicked by the character. It's just not accurate to the guy. And the people running the wiki are notorious for reverting any attempts to change or correct things they don't approve of. Hell, a friend of mine with a writer interview that linked an unnamed character in an earlier season to a named one down the line kept having the first appearance section reverted for no good reason.

And before you start theorizing it, I'm not TC.

Hey, anon! This is going to be the only real thing I respond to here because of the concern.

The two month period is to allow another player to apply, but also because in some cases we feel it necessary. The OC we felt needed a lot of world building before it would be acceptable, as we're extra critical there. The matter of posting an application post rejection is that we will not get to every application 100% of the time before apps closing. We're aiming to do a fair amount during the week, yes, but it's impossible at this time for us to complete them all in that time period.

Also, keep in mind, this is a very new application team and we're still working out the kinks.

As for the application on Train-- there's no way we'd know a wikia page was worse! The history we were given wasn't acceptable by our own standards, but we saw that the wikia page gave us the same amount of information and tends to be an acceptable source. We by no means judge applications based on the personality listed on the wikia page, but in this case they read very similar regardless. We judge applications based on what we're given we would rather see the character's defining traits. We also look for flaws, which we felt were lacking and/or shallow in this application and many others.

However, we're always willing to listen if you have any concerns. It's our goal to make this a game people are comfortable in. Part of this is following a guideline that we set out from the very start.

Since I'm here, I did want to clear up a misconception. We do have several different application mods, who do have slightly different responding styles, and while we touch base with each other, there will be different styles in our applications, which could be why they appear different.

... Thank you for replying. I was mostly posting here to see if I was alone in the thought or if maybe I was overreacting, as Wankgate seems to be a good place to get told if your being stupid or the like. I'm only human after all. I wasn't trying to stir up shit or waste your time with something that's just me being touchy.

I can see that there were flaws in the OC and I can accept that. Thought I'd like to say you guys may want to note in the app page the 2 month wait on rejection somewhere. If I'm used to throwing in halfassed apps to get a feel for a game's policy, I wouldn't want to do that in a case like this. I'd want to put in full effort if it's my main muse.

And thank you for clarifying on how you judge regarding Wikis. I've already spoken to at least one of the mod team about concerns and questions for an app in progress in other areas. So far, I think your app team has done well. I'm looking forward to finishing my app, now that I know I should be safe to use the Wiki for it's good history without damning myself for not following the rather... shallow and hateful version of personality that turned a complex person into a maladjusted antisocial person that would kick puppies.

Should I touch base privately with the mods regarding this privately or just throw the app in?

I didn't mean to make you feel cornered or anything, anon! Like I said previously, I only recently started following wankgate and rpanons simply because there are concerns that may never be raised to us. It's the nature of any RP community and the only way we can improve is by hearing everyone's voices. I don't believe you were trying to stir things up, but I did feel that this warranted some sort of response so no one was confused with how we do things.

We can add in a note that there will be a two month wait period! It was something we decided with our first app, so in the rush of things it hasn't been added in. If anyone else has concerns with the rejection time they should also feel free to say so, that way we can work something out! We've also tried being clear and concise in any pends, so I don't think you need to be worried over a rejection!

If it helps, we will always use wikia pages primarily for history. Sometimes it may supplement our knowledge, but normally if we're not sure about something and don't feel we know enough we call in "experts". Meaning we ask friends who are fans to give us their opinion if it's something we feel has a mistake but we're not completely certain. We'll never judge your personality based on one wikia page, and I can't speak for the others, but I always try and look up a bit of the character that's outside of the wikia page.

You can do either! If you feel concerned about your application, I will be more than happy to look over it and give you any feedback you'd like. We do not, however, generally outright deny applications unless we feel it would take longer than the processing time of one week to fix, so you shouldn't be worried!

How do you judge how long it will take to fix an app?

Right now we've just been using a blanket two months so other people may have a chance if they wish to. So far we've had four declines out the 65+ apps we've so far gone over. Of that amount of applications 23 have been pended with two of the four declines being among them. Some of our declines were because we did not feel they could be fixed in the processing time of a week. We're also pretty thorough with our pends so people don't have to worry about being pended multiple times, so if we feel that something needs to be pended again that also comes into play in the decision.

How long it takes to fix an app right now varies, but just in general from some of the ones we received that have been declined we mostly look at how they read versus canon, how they're written, and (in the case of the OC) how much world building it will take.

It's also like I said that the declines are blanket ones at this point in time so other people may try for the characters before hand. It's likely to change if we it too long.

You shouldn't be half-assing your applications anyway, to be honest. It just reflects poorly on you as a player and the kind of writing you're capable of.
