I think season 7 just was jumbled and listless, and there were a lot of really interesting things that got dropped too fast. for example, Misha Collin's playing a villain that was wrapped up in...what, 1 episode? Did it even make it two? Even if you are not a Cas/Misha Collin's fan, there was a lot of plot potential there that just sorta...fizzled out.
I think "hate" is over dramatic, but it was just sorta...meh. That said, some of my favorite episodes are in season 6 and 7. It just felt sorta lost (understandable, with everything behind the scenes), and had a higher quota of blah episodes than other seasons. though I think people also, in nostalgia, sorta forget the blah episodes in other seasons. 5 is my favorite and also has two of the worst episode imo.
