i had a crush on one, it didn't work out.
dated another, it was all right but we weren't really good together. we broke up after a few months and things are chill between us these days.
dating a third right now, though tbf we met irl a few times first and took it slow. i'm crazy about her, we've been together for more than a year now, and things are pretty damn good.

How about having a lot of interest for a game you want to make, asking if anyone wants to mod, getting a couple of really energetic takers, and then when push comes to shove and you start trying to include them they're nowhere to be found?

this is a terrible idea all around. for one, i don't think trigger's the right term. between the grossly overblown misuse of the word online and the fact that they can be very precise, random things that are impossible to track and prevent, you're asking for a world of trouble. plus the fact that people with legitimate triggers might not be comfortable sharing a list of their deep, soul-shattering traumabombs with a collection of mods they don't know just to play a pretend game.
besides, a list like that sounds restrictive as hell and the easiest thing ever to wank over. what are you going to do, never have an event featuring a single item on the long list of shit that squicks people? what if someone gets told they can't write about, i don't know, blood clots, and take it here calling whoever listed it out as a delicate snowflake?
i'd say mods should just continue to put up warnings for the basics, post the events they want to run with the elements they prefer to include, and let the tittybabies sort themselves out. if you can't handle a little blood or psychological torture, you might want to avoid scary games.

like idk i can maybe see how it'd be mildly interesting to psl??? what with the loneliness parallel between the two of them alongside a couple of other dynamics...but personally i'd never be able to hash out that particular ship in a game. like an anon above me said, i can see it being one-sided from pitch's end, but unless pitch somehow manages to finally tamp down on the cray we see him exhibiting in the movie, i can't see jack getting anywhere near reciprocating anytime soon whilst remaining ic.
...then again, thinking about jack in any kind of ic romantic relationship without a metric ton of development beforehand is kind of laughable anyway. the guy still struggles a lot with some points of basic interaction as it is--he's just now starting to learn how to actively engage friends, sigh

and to keep it on topic: if someone absolutely ~cannot handle~ an event, then sure they have the freedom to dip out. but keep track of how many times people beg off or go on a sudden hiatus after the events are announced and have a set number of times people can do that.

i like this idea. it keeps the characters relevant without having to deal with worms in the eyeball or whatever. there are things i don't necessarily want to play out, and there are times when i have carved this niche for my character specifically so i can get in on the action without being "wargh my eyes" post #6754

Personally to me, dating your rp partner is no different than dating someone from your college or circle of friends. It's just that in this generation, online dating is another way and it's becoming more frequent since almost just about everyone has the internet and the internet itself is just another way of communication and connecting with people. Only difference here is that two people have a hobby in common they like to do.
too lazy to pull them up, but both were mentioned a few threads back and nayru's under the "whatever happened to" one. another anon will have to provide further deets from there.

we ended up being together for almost four and a half years, but it became an extremely unhealthy codependent sort of deal where she used me and i let her even though it was slowly driving me just as crazy as her. she loved to use rp and ships as weapons to emotionally manipulate me, and when i started catching on and fighting back, she would start verbally abusing or outright ignoring me. if i wasn't online when she wanted, she'd get furious. if i didn't play the character she wanted for her ship, she'd pretend she didn't know me. at one point, she even screamed about me getting into a new fandom because she thought it would break us up. whenever i would give into her she would be the most loving, wonderful person ever, the person i wanted her to be, so i just rolled with it until, eventually, i realized that i had no identity outside of the one she wanted me to have.
