bullshit.
the only people that might wank are the tittybabies that play in port that think they have a monopoly on shipping ooc in a game. people would ignore them and the game would probably be more popular for actually being open to more than one genre.

The "no cheating" rule is the dumbest one by far. That cuts out so much potential it's ridiculous and doesn't even make any sense since that's not how people work.
spoilers, anon, i'm a vidya player
and i started the port thread
and i started the port thread
this part's gif has gotten like 10 times more relevant
But what other people besides white people have natural yellow hair? And bigger eyes for that matter? Not Japanese people. Is it really such a stretch to think a BLONDE AND BLUE EYED CHARACTER is white? Unless they dyed their hair and have colored contacts in.
i'd make a vidya only game but I know it's going to be 95% final fantasy
the rest will be persona and dragon age
the rest will be persona and dragon age
A character is a character no matter what medium they're in and they're all on the same level. Dean Winchester is no more real than Sailor Moon just because a real person plays him. There's no superiority.
its more like everyone is the probs right now peebles.
there have been some decent ff people floating around lately, especially from the entries that aren't as popular
can't say much for the other two though, they're hit or miss ime and more often miss at that

just to point out that there are some poc's that have naturally blonde hair and/or blue/green eyes.

two things:
#1 most games in dwrp are in english, including the one this thread's about. anime and manga originate in a language other than english. if the mod wants to check up on something a character from a tv show or movie, chances are they can find information online, in their language, pretty easily. english-language official sites and wiki entries will almost certainly exist. the same does not apply to anime and manga. (the same problem crops up with non-english tv shows, but i guess the mods of this game never thought of that.)
#2 most people tend to hang out with people who are into the same things as them. if someone plays from LA but doesn't know a particular canon, there's a good chance they have a friend who does, or at least a friend of a friend. if what people say about the medium divide is true, there's a much smaller chance that an LA fan has a friend they can quickly grab who is knowledgeable about many different anime and manga.
you're grasping at straws. the reality is, mods don't always want to have to deal with things outside of their experience or interest. it's their right to design their game to minimize that possibility if they want to.
we obviously disagree on whether or not mods have a right to decide what does and doesn't become a part of their game, and that's fine. we're not setting up a game together, so it doesn't matter. if you are a mod yourself, i hope that you practice what you preach. good for you if you do. i'm sure you're an excellent one. if not, you might want to consider how difficult it is to create and maintain a game. it's long hours of thankless work for players who are are often ungrateful, and being frequently attacked by random trolls who have no interest in your game and only want to ruin other people's fun. half the threads on here are provably full of people who have no player knowledge of the game they're bitching about, but they're still prepared to attack the mods' effort.
i personally think getting to cherry-pick what does and doesn't get to be part of the game is the pay-off for that, but ymmv.

true, and ftr i play from final fantasy. i'm just half-complaining that there probably wouldn't be much canon variety.
yeaaaaah especially persona.

I like anime and I have to agree.
Take a look at the portrayal and even design of women in most anime. They're blushy blushy and usually 'weaker' than the main character and less powered and they're usually drawn with huge tits or a womanly body even when they're supposed to be 12 or 13. And so many short skirts. So many short skirts.
Quite honestly I think a lot of it is based on some cultural differences too.

the la players are not going to give any shits about another shipping game opening. of course it'll be a rip-off, but who cares? all new games are a ripoff of something now, because any game that has anything even remotely different gets beaten into the dirt.
a mixed-medium game would probably be 10x more popular, although you can be sure that people will begin complaining about the medium divide if it actually does get players from both sides.

oh god what the fuck no
please tell me this isn't true

It's a stylistic choice to help them stand out from the rest of the cast unless we're talking something like Attack on Titan or FullMetal Alchemist where the setting is Western-inspired.
nah
more like 90% dangan ronpa, kingdom hearts, WoW OCs, final fantasy, mass effect, tales of, pokemon, assassin's creed, persona/smt and dragon age, 5% is maybe the occasional ib, sonic, and aa characters, and everything else is the 5%

True but come on. It's not even close to being as common. Blonde hair and blue eyes are very much predominantly white traits and are rare in others.
+1 Japan has some very unfortunate literary tropes.
could i app isabelle from ac:nl
she's from a video game
she's from a video game
call me a shallow bitch but i'd say dragon age's worse if only for the icons
dear god, everything looks so atrociously ugly in those games, they're fun to play but graphics were definitely not their strong suit
i miss all the alisters who used to float around, though, he was pretty cute and i liked the first game a lot more than the second, but everyone and their mother plays hawke so all the casts follow them en masse

I realize that but people screaming about how we shouldn't associate a blonde haired blue eyed character with being white is a little silly. They're predominantly white traits. Now in the end anime characters have blue/purple/pink whatever hair and that's true and then there's a whole argument about the eyes/facial features that one could go into but that's a whole mess.
