Everyone copes with tragedy differently and its rude to force it on to people who don't want to talk about it. How about you deal with that and find some people who deal with it in the same way and want to talk about it instead of shoving it down the throats of people who want to move on or moved on years ago?

Unless you play from the live action versions and even so in the case of some characters there's no need for the canon art since their movies have enough.

Is it wrong of me to assume that anyone saying that hasn't seen the first Saw film?

I know the others got super gory but the first one was more about 'we're going to let your imagination fill it in'.

And you AREN'T shoving your way of coping down THEIR throats?

You don't' have a gun held to your head forcing you to respond to them. You're literally acting like this from SEEING them.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-12 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
they probably haven't seen ANY on reputation alone judging by the way some of them are reacting to "not being able to handle those films," but i plan on doing a more psychological torment for my character rather than reverse beartrap gruesome violence whatever.

i am kinda worried more people will be amping up the ludicrous violence and won't go for the "punishment tailored towards your sins" aspect of it.

Except this isn't a movie with cuts, it's an RP. I would assume that the reason you're playing out a scene like this is to fill in the imagination with writing.

i am honestly a little surprised this is what causes people to nope.jpg to the extent they're doing because it feels like half the game doesn't want to touch that with a ten foot pole.

but it might just be my plurklist.

You could still write more towards the psychological damage than the amount of blood currently exiting some sort of horrific wound.

i said 'three separate muselists'

(Anonymous) 2013-09-12 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm kind of in the same boat as you, anon.

I want to play out something tailored towards my characters sins. If people are just going to do it for the gore and mutilation though? There's not a lot of point in doing that.

I guess.

Personally I would rather have both.

Last I checked, Sonic was doing well.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-12 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
except for the aftercare h/c, i guess, but if half of everyone wants nothing to do with the event, most of your cr isn't going to want to deal with you coming to them after the fact and describing your character's limbs being hacked off or their head getting ripped in half. or, you know, them coming out of the event with gruesome wounds.

which is why i'm glad i play a character who will either die in the event and thus no one will see how banged up he gets or deal with the situation privately so i don't have to put my cr/castmates in a position to deal with that shit.

are they essential to further the plot? like, can you absolutely not continue unless you play the minigames?

if they're essential then that makes it vague, but otherwise, that's a visual novel, not a game.

IDK, it kind of reminds me on one of the OC arranged marriage games that used to be (maybe still are?) popular on IJ. But at least those generally had some kind of logical plot - a biological disaster had rendered 99.99% of the population infertile or something, so the dystopian government arranged genetically optimal marriages and provided living space to keep the human race from dying out. I'm not really into games like that, but at least it might be interesting. Would characters accept their role for the good of humanity, or would they fight back, or would they try to find true love in secret, etc.

Shipping Port's premise is just stupid. Love is dying out? Why? That makes no sense. A benevolent god magically sets random jamjar arrivals up with their soul mates in sunny Malibu, ignoring the fact that the rest of the world's population is presumably made up of emotionless drones on the verge of total social and population collapse because they "can't love?" This game has a perfect, idyllic, boring as fuck setting that makes no sense. Even if I wanted to play out a ship in a game with my rp partner, this is the dullest possible way to do it. The game has been stripped of any actual story or conflict - characters can't even cheat or resist being paired up. I can play warm and fuzzy domestic fluff anywhere. This is shit.

Oddly enough I play a character that would keep any and all injuries to themselves, although I am kind of rooting on him dying. So I honestly wouldn't be playing out the aftercare even if the majority of my cast hadn't opted out.

Assuming it actually goes ahead with my character, i'll probably send a general plurk around to see what my cast would prefer in terms of the outcome. I don't really want to isolate myself from them over a missing limb.

op, if you aren't going to go through with this, i may actually give it a shot!
