Sometimes, it's hard to be fast enough to satisfy a customer. If you get a certain number of complaints over a few months, even if it's because you were restocking, you can get fired. Or if you're perceived as not going fast enough because you have an asshole manager, you can get fired, even if you're just as fast as everyone else.

Service industry has this "the customer is always right" and "manager always knows best" attitude. Believe me, I've gotten a talking to (which is a mark) because of an incident involving an entitled customer. I can't touch raw corn, it causes me to break out in hives. We were out of disposable gloves, so I had to ask her to bag it herself because I couldn't. and she pitched a fit and talked to my manager about it. Even though the customer was in the wrong here, I'm still the one who got in trouble. All it takes is one ornery enough to raise a fuss over something minuscule as taking one extra second making a salad for you to get in trouble.
