Actually, all drs were cesspools for bad rpers, which is why they died out. If you have a game with no standards where any attempt to enforce even basic rules like "don't godmod" is met with strong resistance, you're only going to keep the lowest common denominator of players, because that's who the setup caters to.
The handful of players with dr nostalgia goggles should take them off. drs are a nice idea in theory, but the mechanics don't work out in practice.
if they didn't work out in practice, why did DRs exist consistently for years until memes became popular?
what didn't kill drs was the shitty players, its because people flew to memes because you can dump your characters without coming up with a hook or post and treating meme comms like a 24/7 fast food place. lbr there's a ton of shit on memes too. plus if you don't like playing with shit, don't play with them, the beauty of a dr is that you don't have to tag people you don't like, just like in memes!
