I'm pretty sure the rules are a two-way street, though. If they're shitty writers or barely putting any effort into their tags, I don't think anyone's going to hold a gun to your head and force you to do anything with them.
As long as you're tagging outside your cast/collection of friends, I'd say you're honoring the spirit of the rule and don't need to literally throw your CR at anyone who apps in.
