it almost seems like there's very little female/female character interaction that isn't shipping based
sure, femslash is rare itself, but it's still more common, i've noticed, than platonic female friendships
and before misogyny anon tries to make this into a "female characters only curr about shipping," i don't think so, because i've seen lots of male/female platonic friendships.
I keep hearing that there are so many more male characters than female, but I really don't think that's true anymore. Some games may have a serious gender imbalance, but memes look pretty even to me.
But it does still seem like a lot of popular canons have a gender imbalance. A lot of movies and anime will have only one or two major female characters, and since a lot of people on memes these days only tag canonmates, there's going to be less f/f interaction in those canons.
What games are you in? Platonic female friendships are pretty common from what I can tell.
That said, a lot of them are either canon or involve characters from similar canons. You rarely see a female character from a shonen manga being besties with a female character from a slice of life anime, for instance, even though you see dudes interacting with moeblobs all the time.
I'm one of the anons in the above thread and I've noticed this. I had a girl who has lived alone most of her life, and I really wanted her to have friends, especially girly friends (it was part of her story arc that she never got a chance to embrace her more feminine side but wanted to). Unfortunately, no bites. All her friends were male, and while I enjoyed the CR anyway, it was still disappointing. They didn't even have to be girly, I just wanted her to have some friends of her own gender.
i play from a few canons that are heavy on female friendships, but aside from them, ia it's hard to get cross-canon or sometimes even canon friendships.
I've had a few characters with f/f platonic friendships that were crosscanon, but it's always been with characters on both sides who had female friends they were close to in canon. It seems like that unless there's a precedence for it with the characters in play, people just don't really think of it.
well, thats a direct result of the femslash culture we have here. It's pretty sad that People don't know that women can be friends without wanting to fuck. Shows how many of them are really female Players tbh
