Am I the only one who's noticed that the rules as written allow for print-only comics, which would include manga? Nothing there would stop you from apping Sailor Moon as long as the drawing didn't move. I mean, yes, obviously the intent is to ban anime and video game characters, but a lot of those have printed comics. And on the other hand, since they seem to be down with western comics, you could have Batman as drawn on a page but not Batman from the animated series.

It's possible that by "print-only novels and comics" they'd be trying to ban that, but the fact that all those superheroes have an animated adaptation or six and may in many cases have started as a cartoon means they'd in fact be banning those characters if they tried to spin it that way.

I just love it when people try to talk around whatever it is they're trying to do and end up with totally incoherent results that accomplish nothing like what they wanted.

That's true, they have pretty much okayed manga, and considering most anime either began as a manga or gets a manga adaptation...

yeah, exactly, according to the rules, manga is a-okay. and considering i am of the opinion that manga>>>>anime adaptations 99% of the time, i ain't butthurt at alll.

now i just have to decide whether i want to go shounen or shoujo...
