wow, of all the things to get your panties in a twist about, you pick this?
1) way to be pedantic.
2) this games takes place in a magical pirate world, not earth. your nitpick about the eras which ships were in use is invalid.
3) one of the mods probably knows more about this kind of stuff than you could find in your wiki-hopping. they just understand that most people aren't going to get hung up on such details and would rather be able to play shenanigans on boats. if people want to be realistic, no one's stopping them from playing it out, they are just not forcing people to.
