trans person here; here's how it works

trans people are the gender they come out. this includes before they transition, before they come out, and before they knew they were trans. we've always been our real gender, just presented as something else.

so always use their current pronouns even when referring to them in the past (except in cases where asked to do otherwise, or if they're in stealth and doing so would out them.)
