i appreciate the concern, but want to point out that you guys really can't tell when one of us has been "nowhere to be seen". sixteen has been around, they're just not as interested in commenting and their post turn is coming up next so you haven't seen them as an OP for a while.

also want to point out that the op of this thread is the biggest spammer rn; they spammed a bunch and then commented here so we'd get the notif and pay attention to them, and they've been spamming steadily over a long-ish period of time, which is a weird pattern that easily gets through us since we have lives and tags and shit to get to. most spamming is rapid-fire and comes in short bursts so it's easier to "sit on it" actively instead of relying on reports and check-ins to deal with it.

the "increase in tolerance" has way more to do with the behavior and persistence of this particular handful of spammers than with mod availability. low-level shitposting that builds up over time doesn't get reported as fast as spambombs, so it gets by us while we're doing other things until someone goes "hey page 6 is awful from top to bottom".

yeah, i agree that there's been a general increase in the 'i know who you are!!' syndrome and i've fallen prey to it here.

i don't get what's up with this particular spammer's craving for mod attention. it's like they want to differentiate themselves from the pack for the dumbest reason possible.

Hey mods, could we get IP logging off sometime soon? The last post was a trainwreck and at this point (given the comment dinomod posted on this same thread) it seems like people are spamming so mod-senpai will notice them ever since that one shitposter got noticed.

Especially since people were willing to outright break the rules with IP logging on (by posting locked DW entries), it only seems to scare off the people who actually want to post about RP (even if they're being overly paranoid in thinking that the mods will be able to tell which player they are) and draws out the attention-seeking shitposters.

our feelings are a little mixed. on one hand, yeah, IP logging really doesn't deter spammers, and there is a sense that it causes an uptick in attention-seeking bullshit.

it is kind of useful, though, for figuring out whether an edge-case thread is bait or genuine.

we'll consider it, give us a bit to talk.
