I've never seen them treat it as endgame I've seen them tell people who read the books to not expect it as endgame

Years ago I played a very obscure character who was a classic jackass with a heart of gold type and who had a canon relationship that I didn't mind either. After playing him around memes for a while I spotted someone playing the other half of the canon pairing somewhere and figured, hey, a little cute and light meme fun would be nice so we did a couple of threads.
Then came the pms about them and what did I think their romance/wedding/kids/married life would be like and the persistent pushing and ignoring my attempts to say I wasn't really interested in that. And the following me to games where the character she played slowly became more and more ooc and the player steamrolled any attempts I made to have my character react to that and ignored my crit on what was happening. Eventually I gave up trying to help and just cut all ties entirely, dropped the character, and hoped I'd never run into that player again.
I pretty much forgot about it entirely until I was reading up on something else here and saw her name in the older namedrop threads.

Play Character A in a relationship with Character B. They're a pretty popular ship in fandom and we took months building up their relationship and finally had them admit their feelings around the time Character C was apped in.
B and C were the flagship fandom m/m ship (A and B were m/m too so don't start on that wank.) B immediately drops all of their built CR with A to jump into awkward ship pushing with C, basically broke up with A in public network post, and the mun of B suggested I should "memory wipe" A with a canon update so he wouldn't be sad. B and C strike up a relationship within a month and are schmooping it up all over the network and log comms every day with no regards to A, who is a really close character to them BOTH in canon. I dropped him after like 2 months because I was so upset.
Like yeah im buttpained still but this was like back on LJ and I was fifteen and it hurt okay. :(
