You still have to read an app for someone who's going to do jack all and possibly have to deal with fielding castmate complaints about it. It's a hassle.
i know 'weh weh you're perpetuating the medium divide' but fuck that, i've gone ahead and apped before, and it just wasn't fun having to work that hard to get cr
Ryslig has actually done this before. The current eren had deets brought against them showing a record for flaking. They had to add in a section to their app proving they could stay in the game for more than three months by showing how long they stayed in another game. I'm guessing the player caught that break since the flake deets on her were from 2012. Effing's stuff is more recent.
Basically if people around here complain about flakes via mod pm, stuff gets done. Kinda wish i had sent a pm about pikari before she flaked but i was too lazy to gather evidence.
From my experience the LA players are the ones who are forever making it exist. They seem to be the ones most likely to not bother tagging characters from canons they aren't familiar with and they of course are only familiar with LA canons. There are definitely some awesome players who do play LA characters and will tag whatever but they really seem to be that rare fleck of gold in a pile of shit. I swear, though, on average LA players are the most uncreative and most unwilling to just give something a shot and see where it goes which is a shame because that often can lead to some of the most awesome and unexpected CR.
also, like the bechdel test (which is another useful concept which has een corrupted and misused by the internet), the concept of fridging as it was originally conceived wasn't originally supposed to speak to the quality of a specific work so much as it was supposed to illustrate a pattern- essentially, that female characters dying solely to motivate male character was much more common than the reverse. arguably it wouldn't even be a problem if the ratio was closer to 50/50, although when done badly that kind of plot can be grating or predictable even apart from the misogynistic aspects.
this is me except with m/m. weirdly, i like reading it, but i just can't get into for whatever reason whenever i've tried to rp it out. so now i just don't try anymore, which everyone i know is fairly respectful of now that i only play obscure characters but i used to get a lot of people trying to badger me to play m/m with them back when i played more popular & well-known characters.
yeah it's confirmed nys is part of the op. the problem is it worked well because there ARE assholes posed against gamergate that shoot first and ask questions later, largely because lollipop made them jumpy and thinking anyone using nys is a sock puppet. and to be fair, there ARE sockpuppets using the tag. but fact is, just like there are gay republicans, there are all kinds of minorities that support gamergate in spite of gamergates continued targeting of said minorities, and instead of pointing out that cognitive dissonance, some fucking assholes decided "YOU SOUND WHITE" was the way to win that battle.
embarrassing, tbh. but still, doesn't change the fact that nys is part of the op.
true stormy-level creepers who pursue the same targets for literally years on end and who will go through the trouble of creating multiple socks just to play with someone are rare. a lot of people will have rp careers that go on for literally years without experiencing a stalker that dedicated.
but a sizable minority of rpers will whine at least a little bit or go "but why?" when told no to something, and do at least a little bit of wheedling to try to get you to do what they want, although these people usually do eventually back off if you stand firm, but you shouldn't have to repeatedly tell someone "no" to get them to respect that; the first time should be enough.
and i've personally had at least 3 people insert things on my "no" list into a thread without so much as running it by me first (although one of those admitted that it wasn't that they were deliberately trying to circumvent my prefs so much as they never read them to begin with, which is a separate but related and still annoying issue.)
1. are you among furries? if so, there is no answer. sky's seriously the limit 2. if not, anything above 10" is just overindulgent. unless you're playing a character over 7 feet tall in which case w/e
