I don't really care. It's a great opportunity for people to get beta readers, but that's not the issue. my confusion is why this has to be mod-implemented. no other game has to do this, save for the game that has the most whining. it's a nice gesture from the mods to set it up, but completely unnecessary.
why the fuck isn't kayvin on this list? i'd rather deal with tifa any day over that mess.
i've lucked out with a few games where i came in with an obscure as fuck character that no one knew and had no problem feeling welcomed and getting cr. ymmv depending on the game and the playerbase.

honest answer: because we don't want people who need betas to get into the game. if they couldn't have gotten in on their own, we don't want them here. they're not going to get betas for their tags, so helping them with their app is going to result in more low quality rping.

not me, but i know someone who apped to a game intending to play out a canon m/f ship.
and then without even playing out a breakup, the player of the female character defriended and blocked the player of the male character so she could play out a cross-canon ship with a serial killer character (the female character in question was not violent or a serial killer in any way).
she had her character woobify and excuse the serial killer's actions for over a year until she dropped. people tried to crit her but she ignored it and put up a notice on her HMD saying that who she ships with has nothing to do with whether she's IC or not so she won't be accepting crit on the ship.

if you haven't been keeping up with her since then, she hasn't improved any. my favorite so far has still been people expressing discomfort with how sexual-assault-y her bill was in cosmo and how victim blaming she was getting ("well it's her fault for not telling bill she has a boyfriend"), and that went down the exact same way. people tried to explain shit and she just kept getting flustered and trying to argue against them because she just apparently couldn't understand what was wrong for the life of her. and this happened a few months ago, iirc? give or take. it's fairly recent.
