it's really unfortunate that they are mentally unwell. while i'll agree they don't deserve hate messages or harassment, they did something incredibly selfish, thoughtless, and upsetting to a lot of people in deleting the game the way they did, not once but twice. people have the right to be angry and to hold them accountable for their actions. mental illness isn't a get out of consequences scott free card.
i've struggled with clinical depression all my life. getting consequences for doing shitty things is part of the process of coping and learning what not to do when you feel like shit. so hopefully, they've learned something from all of this, will back away from dw and online things that they clearly can't handle right now, and continue getting better away from places where they can damage other people with their actions. at my lowest, i always take breaks from being online. it can be a very toxic place for trying to recover.
the only time i can remember them logging in on anoncomms (oh no!) was to shittalk other trek aka hellion.
they seem obnoxious af but whenever they get dropped here they're being obnoxious at someone who's even worse, so if you've seen them rip into someone who didn't deserve it, it's your fault for not linking it here
her selfish, thoughtless behavior is what earned her the harassment. she deserves it. nobody should be excused for hurting people because they're mentally unwell.
looking upthread, op's actually the person who dropped wondering if it would be worth reaching out to a few former gamemates, or if they'll be brushed off or told off for not dragging things out.
Well, I was expecting them to basically be like Skyrim's, where you get some random gooey dialogue and an extra perk if you sleep near them. Which is basically what we get isn't it?
nah. every time the discussion comes up, the reasons are overwhelmingly "i don't want to deal with 100 teenagers who can punch a comet into the sun". a lot of popular anime relies on tropes that can be a turnoff for people playing from more real-world grounded canons, especially since a lot of players get butthurt when adult characters treat their teenaged characters like actual teenagers.
but you can also express your displeasure with somebody without harassing them. there is never a valid excuse to harass people. just like their being mentally ill isn't a get out of jail free card for bad behavior, your being upset also isn't a get out of jail free card to do whatever the fuck you feel like, no matter how out of line.
no, i definitely agree with you, but they do regret acting childishly and in my mind its just a pretend game so while it's shitty and kind of crazy it's not something i'm going to get up in arms about. from what i understand they've left rp though. granted, they were already thinking about doing that anwyay iirc, which i think will be much better for them in the long run.
If she isn't actually dead, the show just wasted like ten minutes of time and pathos on an elaborate headfake. That would upgrade the episode from mildly shitty to titanic shitstorm. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt.
She made it in the first place, iirc, then lost interest. So it's less that the players let her keep control, and more that most players didn't care enough to pry her hands off it.
i understand where the players are coming from. yes, it's just a pretend game, but it's something people have put their time, effort, and creativity into over an extended period of time. if you rp, then you know that just like any other collaborative hobby, you put energy into forming ties, creating story lines, and contributing to a greater whole. they may have owned the comms originally. they didn't own the writing in them. i'd be furious if everything i wrote over a period of months disappeared just because one person decided to throw a tantrum.
what they did is the equivalent of somebody burning a quilt because they had a falling out with a few people in their quilting bee, or trashing a stadium where their team practiced for sports to the point it's unusable. the only difference is that with online things, there's a better chance of recovering the damages and there aren't criminal charges for destroying dw communities.
i am glad to hear they're getting out of rp. it does sound like the best course of action at this point.
if they fucking killed someone, we'd be making sure she got arrested. don't be a drama whore.
she's being treated like she tried destroying a game out of a fit of pique and supported people who have made a lot of people's rp time miserable. get over it.
i like to think that not everyone who speaks in the heat of the moment has thought through what they're saying and can be reasoned with. i don't think all of dwrp is nearly as childish or completely unreasonable as we like to pretend we are on wg. sometimes there are conversations worth trying to have beyond "no u" and "farts."
my complaints about inugami extend far beyond "it's a shitton of sol in what's supposed to be a horror game" but thanks for generalizing becaude not everyone's excited with your sandbox
