Yeah I'm not someone who was in Luceti and looking at this that Selphie is brought up as shit a lot too. Idk what former players talk about and I didn't know these specific deets. I was talking as an FF general RPer who plays with others in the fandom. Luceti was known among other FF players for being the shittiest. That Selphie lacked any of the story the character had and was just a manic pixie. The Kain and Rydia still RP. The Kain is played as weepy and angsty and basically the way shitty Clouds are in a cycle of never moving hurt comfort. The Rydia actually played her either like a bitch or autistic child, which is often how the player acts OOC.
I don't know about the wank but canon itself refutes how both are played OOcly and details given in later remakes and even guides of the time state she's not a kid and just responds to some things differently because she grew up isolated with magic monsters and stuff.
Again that Selphie was shit and we laugh about her too a lot so if the original was that player and has actual grudges based on things other than "they're bad and still actively bad at playing these characters they've turned into OCs" then that's awkward since they're definitely one of the worst rpers in the FF fandom who hugely misunderstand, limit, and write their character like they have a child's understanding of nuance and how people are multifaceted and also missed the entire point of a game about repressed memory and damaged child soldiers who put their coping mechanisms first. I have no horse in this race, they're all bad and again still visible in games or memes sometimes so myself and other FF fans get a good laugh at how terrible they are from time to time.
Maybe some is grudgewank which is hilarious too to see shitty RPers grudge against equally shitty ones but I promise that they're basically legendary jokes in some areas of fandom, including off site and non-RP. Let the wank flow.

I didn't know anything about this specific wank only that both still RP and play their characters very poorly and take over and monopolize and shun people who aren't each other and can easily make someone new feel like they're unwelcome in small fandoms. I'm all for rping what you want when you want though. Even if they were in games actively doing this who cares just have fun yourself?

Gency has been basically confirmed in twitter since Michael Chu retweeted it on twitter with heart-eyes emoji and talked about how he hoped he did them justice.
