you don't need good joints or muscles to eat fewer calories, but go ahead and try to tell me that the most important part of weight loss is burning 600 calories on a treadmill every few days instead of controlling how much fatfuel is going in to your mouth

you should go on america's got talent to show off that remarkable stretching and blinder sight you got there. terrific.

eating fewer calories/eating healthy is great, but if you're a sedentary person/aren't active for whatever reason, you can still gain weight. that's why 'diet and exercise' is marketed and pimped out for losing weight, not one or the other. if you eat nothing but fast food and work out all the live long day, the majority of people that do that will still gain fat because of shitty diets. if you don't/can't exercise and have a relatively sedentary/non-active lifestyle, but you eat the healthiest of health food and count your calories, you are still going to gain weight (unless you're literally starving yourself, by which point you aren't eating healthy because congrats, you're anorexic, and don't get me started in on the health concerns there).

if you're already larger for any reason, losing weight requires both. and when you have damaged body parts or physical disabilities, it can lend to not being able to work out the parts you need to work out properly, or in the cases of people who are so dead set on losing weight, they push past pain and red flags and wind up blowing out body parts or suffering permanent damage.

so hey, keep advocating for things you know nothing about. you're good at it.

when you're fat, your body requires more calories to maintain even while just sitting on your ass. I'm eating 1600 calories a day right now and *losing weight* because I let myself become a whale. you may not be able to get skinny while being sedentary, but you can get less fat. maybe down to overweight instead of obese. and at that point, you may be feeling good enough to exercise anyway. when I get down to 200 pounds I plan to add in exercise.

(frozen comment) Re: +1

(Anonymous) 2017-01-22 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
........ok, i'm prolonging fatwank and all that, but you wouldn't be "starving". if you're large enough, even kicking it back 200 calories from what you usually eat per day can result in lost weight over a couple weeks, which can mean something as simple as forgoing a snack

not everyone burns the same number of calories for sure, but it's annoying as fuck to hear people talk about how it's literally impossible for them to lose weight. that's not true. is it uncomfortable? yes. hard? yes. should you do it if you don't want to? no

but it's not impossible so stop peddling that defeatist shit

(frozen comment) Re: +1

(Anonymous) 2017-01-22 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
you're not getting it at all, are you? starving yourself, or losing weight from just caloric loss is not a healthy way to lose weight. in fact, weight means pretty much dick all, as does the bmi scale. if you're not exercising in conjunction with losing weight and are trying to actively get 'less landwhale' by slowing down your eating and knocking off x amount of calories a month, you're still not going to lose the right kind of weight, nor are you going to do it healthily.

i genuinely hope you're just ignorant of the actual facts here, so here:
https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/2013/12/diet-myth-news-flash-eating-less-cause-fat-loss/

if you want to lose weight and do so in a healthy manner, you have to both exercise, to build up muscle and actually burn fat (since that's what burns fat), and eat healthy (since that's what decides what type of fuel your body is going to have to burn). if you do strictly one or the other, you are not healthy. bad things can and will happen.

and if someone is overweight and has bad knees, it might lessen their ability to be more active and yes, result in surgery. and for anyone else that isn't the subject of this thread who has problems with body parts due to disabilities, injuries, or just wear and tear, 'get off your ass and exercise' isn't something new they're hearing. yes, some people are lazy as fuck. others would just rather deal with being fat instead of dealing with the pain or potential more pain from trying to work it off. knowing your limits is not defeatist. unless they're 'i wash myself with a rag on a stick' fat, they're just not your optimal weight. and they may not be theirs, but the choice to try to change that is up to them. not your fake 'eat less' answers.

just stop speaking in defeatist absolutes for everyone because you don't personally want to lose weight. that's fine, other people do. i'm also not going to bother reading some blog post when my own personal experience tells me otherwise

I love this drama, too. And for those who haven't heard about this... everything described above did not happen in a single instance. This all happened over the course of almost two years. Two years of unrelenting salt by DH because people criticized their crappy game. I kept forgetting about this drama and then months later I was reminded that it was STILL GOING ON.

In addition, after Valve dropped DH from Steam, they then attempted to turn around and sue Valve for breech of contract (ie removing them without warning or something). Pretty sure those charges were dropped as well.

Also when DH first attempted to sue the anonymous Steam users, the guy apparently decided to represent himself rather than use a lawyer. I can only presume this is because all competent lawyers he went to knew he had no freaking case. For any interested law nerds out there and those who don't mind lots of law jargon, someone put up a video analyzing a bunch of his bullshit charges and why they don't work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8weQAm3Zgo (analysis starts around 1:30)

I still don't really understand the amount of butthurt DH had surrounding the criticism. Did he seriously put so much love and passion into that crappy mess of a game?

The Silent Hill circumcision wank still remains one of the funniest wankstorms I have ever witnessed.

For those unaware, the admin of the Silent Hill wiki decided to throw a bunch of anti-circumcision rants into various articles. Other users, thought it was some troll spamming the pages and deleted the edits before eventually realizing it was the admin himself adding those things. It then evolved into a huge wankstorm where he kept arguing about the Silent Hill series being a giant symbolic statement about circumcision and why it's so horrible and so on.

Googling "silent hill circumcision" will provide a lot of great sources and records involving the whole mess, but here's one of them

as the anon they replied to, yes, this is what i meant. muscle weighs more than fat, so you can be 200lbs at 6'3, but if it's all fat, it shows. if it's all muscle, you're healthy and your weight doesn't mean anything in this instance. weight by numbers is a partial factor, not a deciding one. an eighth grade girl explained in her report why bmis are bullshit, so the airt can go look that up.

heavy muscle =/= heavy fat. one is healthy, one is not.
