Tumblr is losing their shit over this and I've seen a lot of "unfollow me if you like this" posts.

well it probably wouldn't have blown up so bad had some yoi bnf not said "IF YOU LIKE YURI ON ICE YOU SHOULD LOVE THIS" but tbh it's basically babby's first edgy bl on both sides of the fence, both in people acting as if it's some new horrible thing or some new subversive thing

watching people on my timeline start getting into this like don't you fuckers even do this to me
heeeere come the weather plurks. yeah, snow i get worrying about if your state isn't equipped for it, but 30F temperatures aren't going to kill you.
what bothers me more than this are the people who barge in like "oh yeah well it's WAY colder over here and we always get snow lol suck it up"

i tried to read a few chapters, but it's honestly disturbing so i stopped. which isn't a bad thing because it's literally in the title that you can figure out that it's not going to be pretty. it's essentially a horror story.
i think the "unfollow me if you like this" posts probably came from there being a lot of people who are romanticizing the two together. so there's a lot of the usual extremes in fad fandom discourse.

it's definitely ~edgy and it's not brilliant or anything, but tumblr fandom lately has been so focused on precious cinnamon rolls and very light-hearted canons and ships that i'm kind of glad to see something this dark get kind of popular because it's my jam
i mean, i don't judge anyone if they prefer light-hearted things, but tumblr discourse right now leans towards "if you like any ships outside of the 'two morally good people who love and support each other unconditionally' dynamic or you prefer darker canons you're problematic", which imo is just as shitty as the "light-hearted things are for babies" attitude these people were so sick of

my character got a girlfriend and the player who plays the other half of our in game ship is also a decently cool person so it's like double the fun
