Actually, in a way, Rhaegar was pretty obsessed with prophecy.
1.) At first he was pretty sure he was the Prince that was Promised. 2.) The dragon must always have three heads. He was obsessed with having a third legitimate child. though I'm not quite sure why the annulment was necessary, as Targs are known for polygamist marriages. Aegon the Conquer had two sister-wives. 3.) Once Lyanna was pregnant, he was pretty sure that particular child was going to be the Prince that was Promised.
So in some weird obsessive way, Rhaegar did kinda sort know???? Or thought he knew. Either way we're still not 100% sure who The Prince that was Promised is going to be. Jon is the obvious, and even though this season seemed to be the "payoff" season, with not a lot of surprises we still have 6 more episodes worth of surprises.
