works in reverse too. i'm disabled and can't drive or go stand in line somewhere and have a notice up telling carriers to leave packages on the stoop or with our next door neighbor who doesn't work cause her husband has a good job. even the guy who hand delivers my medication leaves it with the neighbor now if i'm not home or awake, best thing i've ever done for myself.
