Agreed. I once had someone block me because I said something negative about a fandom they liked. It created some awkward moments when our mutual friend was talking to them in a way that looked invisible to me, but I chalked it up to "my friend has a weird erratic friend" and didn't think about it outside of the times when I got reminded.

All these people crying about being blocked by strangers are either projecting unrelated experiences or have some very intense anxiety that they shouldn't be expecting other people to deal with. Your mental health is nobody else's responsibility.

just straight up admitting to writing headcanon about other anons, huh

muting on twitter isn't really effective, twitter frequently shows things you block or mute because it doesn't really function properly. but also: if you want to block something online, you should. why hold yourself hostage to reading and interacting with people you don't feel like reading or interacting with?

Re: da

its not really headcanon when im making conclusions based on the comments i see on the page in front of me, which is that some anons are putting way too much brainpower into Petty and Not Petty reasons people they probably dont know are blocking other people they probably dont know if they are writing multi-paragraph screeds about it

anon you just straight up admitted that the reason you got blocked was weird and erratic.

that's all anyone was saying, that blocking for reasons like that is weird and not normal.

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-03-30 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
depends. do these people have public plurks and make a ton of plurks that other people replurk a lot? i block those people sometimes so i stop seeing their replurks instead of individually blocking replurks on multiple friends. snip the source. there's plenty of reasons to block people and i don't think it's a bad thing to utilize site resources to protect your own lane.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2022-03-30 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
that's the definition of headcanon.

all they did was write some comments, anon.

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-03-30 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, but that's different than just having other interests, isn't it? i'd get annoyed in that scenario, too.

i think some of us are talking past each other here, tbh, and i probably am too. like the scenario i'm thinking of is just what the anon said, person likes B and they don't care about B, without other context surrounding it.

i mean sure, but whatever? tbh i figure if someone is hair triggered enough to block me for such a petty reason then we probably wouldn't get along so

"there are options besides blocking" implies that the blockers shouldn't be blocking, hth

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-03-30 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
maybe we should all just accept that different people have different reasons for blocking others, and it's still the better option compared to forcing people who don't want to interact to interact until things explode. there's no reason anyone should not be allowed to block whoever in a social hobby. there are enough of us that you'll barely notice unless you hyperfocus on the person blocking you.

weird that people think there's more than this that even needs to be said on the subject when it comes to decisions that probably have nothing to do with you

Re: dda

(Anonymous) 2022-03-30 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I had to Google it, so I'll present my findings for other confused anons. In elder ring, some npc calls the player character "maidenless" in the sense of "does not have a maiden to sleep with," so basically "lol virgin"

And now I'm torn between sighing about us using a virginity reference as an insult, being annoyed about the hwtwronormativity of it, and pointing out that calling someone a virgin here is like being surprised about finding fish in the ocean.

implying only women can be maidens is your own heteronormativity talking, it's more like "you get no bitches*"

* bitches is also gender neutral

it's not that deep on a site that's like 80% queer folk, don't read that much into it

Re: na

(Anonymous) 2022-03-30 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what the word means. It's a gendered word.

https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/maiden

synonymous with "girl," comparable to "virgin."
