personally, writing the mechanics out of a fight is boring and tedious. sometimes i like using it as an excuse to show off a character's powers if they'd been keeping them secret or it's going to segue into another thread where the characters talk about it post-fight, but the "they punch" "they dodge, they kick" "they take the hit, they punch again" "they miss, they kick again" is not my bag. same reason why i find insert tab a into slot b style smut writing with no character personality or stakes or investment generally boring and mechanical and tedious.

fight threads that gloss over the fighting mechanical parts and focus more on the emotions of it, that can be good shit...but usually that requires some cr built up first to make it mean something. a random one-off fight meme that doesn't go anywhere isn't as satisfying to me.
