The Nice Guy (tm) who ends up with the character he (or in some instances she, let's be equal in the annoyance) is in love/infatuated with because he refuses to accept no for an answer and continues to pursue that person. Even worse when the writer is unironically on this character's side and the courtship is depicted as a sweet/positive/pure thing and "[recipient] will come around eventually" to accept their affection. Often, they do indeed end up together, despite how a situation like this would, in reality, likely end with some sort of restraining order or at least the recipient being all the more turned off by Nice Guy.
A TV show airing recently in my area had such a character and my first thought was "omg it's 2022, how has writing not progressed past this." nobody takes local tv very seriously in these parts.
