I’m not even sure it’s just the short/pixie cuts. It’s also the fact that they’re wearing armor that, while its sort of ‘cut’ for a female body type, is decidedly not feminine.
It’s still kind of gross to call them ‘queer-coded’ because of that, though. It sounds just a little too close to the idea that not following dated gender rolls must mean they’re lesbians.
