commercial vpn addresses are well known, as is their format, and they're identifiable from 'regular' ips. when anon mods on rpa spot an obvious vpn address, they assume (often wrongly, as we keep eyerolling here) the user is a wanker trying to slip thru the cracks and delete threads. dreamwidth itself isn't snitching on you for using a vpn, we're just at a point where vpns are so commonplace that you can't easily hide you're using one anymore, just your actual address. tbf, most vpn users have no interest in pretending they're regular ip users to escape the detection of trigger-happy mods in their fictional barbies hobby, so it's a pretty niche interest that vpn providers have yet to cater to.
