there is nothing about a meme positing short, snappy, pre-written dialogue prompts that implies oocdom. you are supposed to choose tflns that suit your character (or better yet, to customize or write them). it's not that an ooc cesspool is 'just the kind of place' tfln is, it's that you're interacting with players who like to be self-indulgent with their rp now and then, and that's their venue of choice.
i'll spoil something for you: 95% of characters on the sexting meme wouldn't sext, and people with a mind to play it icly still manage. hell, many characters either wouldn't know how to text or wouldn't practise it generally as a habit, and yet players still do it icly. a meme isn't 'by and large' anything, rpers make or break it.
