anon, ten years ago was 2014. the Obergefell decision was 2015. two side characters being in a gay relationship would have indeed been a big deal, but "torches and pitchforks" is extremely hyperbolic. 2014 was korrasami walking off into the proverbial sunset, for a point of comparison.

currently we are seeing a major conservative backlash, which is a discussion that is a whole different can of worms.
