i had to parent up a lot to figure out where this started and it's because of some plurk asshole that is whining for money for fast food because microwaves are too hard to use up high and god forbid they move it to a counter, and then we went to ovens, and then the debate on housing having ovens or not and then it became a weird pissing contest over fire vs every other disaster and i promise you, this is the dumbest argument i've ever heard. all disasters are disastrous to people that are in them. i know people in my personal social circle that are currently fleeing a fire. i know others that have lost family members in power outages from blizzard/snow storms. i also live right in the middle of a heavy fire area and it's not just the fire, it's smoke damage (hello my asthma), and i've had family out in areas with tornados/hurricanes that have gotten hurt. all i have to do is look online to see the devastation of earthquakes that are utterly devastating.
what i'm seeing is someone thinking fire trumps all and that other disasters aren't as devastating. imo, they're wrong. all disasters are just that; disasters. they all suck. and they are getting more frequent. so they all suck a whole lot more. this is also probably just someone bored about the post and shit stirring for the sake of it, which is something that some people admit to doing frequently.
