i'm pretty sure the character is a yokai or a wolf demon or something like that so she isn't even human?

even if she wasn't, nothing about this is at all out of line. plenty of japanese people also have a "western" name because they deal with a lot of english speakers or just because they like it. extremely weird to say that someone MUST have a name that's ethnic enough to count. maybe she was raised in a western country or moved overseas at some point. maybe her parents thought the name was pretty. you are really trying to find any excuse to nitpick this person for someone who claims not to care.

was going over the past rpanons and now here's a full judgement zone about people responding to the "only writes tops/bottoms" thread

if you think that you have to write top because thats the only way you can make your character have control or be proactive/action heavy, that's a skill issue and frankly really damning on the people you tag to boot

having a preference is one thing, as is finding a particular perspective more engaging... but jeez louise. you and your character aren't contributing or being more of service by topping either. stroke your ego all you like, but rp takes at least 2 players unless you're being masturbatory by player-cesting your smut threads.

also trying so hard to justify a character to be a top despite most evidence to the contrary is annoying AF on top (lol) of veering towards OOC territory, tho more power to you for it being a kink i guess. force-top instead of force-femme, or something.

Honestly the control thing is one of my biggest pet peeves whenever top/bottom discourse comes up. Having control issues doesn't mean a character must top, and in many cases I've seen canons strongly imply that said control issues just make a character miserable and they need to let go to be happier or enjoy themselves.

So yeah. That shit sucks. They could just top because they like it, but making it wholly about control is nuts and is an awful reflection of the player's own need to exercise control too.

lmao yeah my assumption was that at first, but they have it as nurumi pretty consistently, so maybe they just misread narumi as nurumi when looking up japanese names. or used a kanji dictionary without understanding how kanji readings work for names?

Maybe I just don't see the issue because again, anime doesn't have these stringent rules about hair color, looks, names, and everything. For me, the art style is just a style (and if you read any manga, especially indie ones, you'll find that some can have very diverse features), and they kept to a Japanese PB which is already loads better than the guy who had the Itachi mpregbaby OC with a white dude PB trying to pass him as Japanese.

The OC is pretty much standard shounen anime tropes, even with the whole sex thing. Fantasy trope, promiscuous lady, tragic backstory, randomly OP. Whether she is well-written or not is a different thing, but in terms of offensive, she is pretty mild and it feels more like anon wants her to be more of a stereotype.

my personal favorite thing with control freaks is someone topping them and giving them space to relax.

but also the most important thing: the character could do it just because they like it.

we largely have no information on the sex lives and personal preferences of any of these characters. someone being a control freak or a type A or they are shown driving with one hand or whatever else doesn't mean they're a top, just like someone being messy and having adhd doesn't mean they're a bottom. i wish players (or fandom as a whole) would just... relax with their t/b discourse.

idk the guy, but oc who is created so they can fuck canon characters is a staple in dwrp. it was one of the reason fandom ocs were completely banned in games because people kept making them to have instant cr with canon characters they want to ship/smut with.

if you have deets on what makes them terrible aside from that, feel free to share with the class.

I really wish people would just stop looking for reasons to justify their top/bottom preference and just admit it is a preference regardless of personality, because that's more realistic. a control freak might like topping or bottoming, and maybe they are controlling in some aspects but not in others.

the only reason bottoms get a bad rap is because of boring pillow queens with dead writing flocking to them, or tsunderes who resist so much it feels like writing noncon instead. it isn't personality types but bad writing that is the issue.

Also as an aside I think some tops who need to justify why they top can be boring as well, since they then go in the direction of well... control freaks and can never lose type of writing.
